Cessnock and Branxton pools secure 5 Star Water Safety Partner Accreditation

Cessnock City Council’s pools at Cessnock and Branxton have been recognised by Royal Life Saving NSW as being exceptionally safe.

The swimming facilities have been designated the well-recognised 5 Star Water Safety Partner Accreditation – each scoring 98% during Royal Life Saving Aquatic Facility Safety Assessments in late 2024.

Cessnock pool received a 97% safety score, while Branxton swim centre earned 96%.

The external audits comprehensively assess aquatic facilities against Royal Life Saving Australia Guidelines for Safe Pool Operation, Australian Standards, and relevant state/territory legislation.

Cessnock City Mayor Dan Watton said the results showed Council’s Aquatics team had a strong ongoing commitment to safety standards across a range of benchmarks.

Mayor Watton noted "the teams at both pools have performed extremely well.

"Cessnock City Council’s assessment scores were among the highest across NSW, ACT, and Tasmania during the past year."

Visit Cessnock or Branxton pool between 6am and 6pm on weekdays or 7am and 6pm on weekends. Branxton’s swim season ends on 29th March 2025, while Cessnock pool remains open until 4th April 2025.
