Cairns Regional Council places strong focus on regional arts Investment
Cairns Regional Council has advised it is considering entering a four-year agreement with Arts Queensland worth $960,000 to support for arts and cultural initiatives through the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF).
Council has committed $480,000 towards the new partnership agreement, which if successful will be matched by Arts Queensland.
The new funding agreement, due to begin on 1st July 2024, marks a shift to a four-year application cycle, offering greater flexibility and long-term planning capabilities for the Council.
Since 2014, the RADF partnership has provided essential funding for local arts initiatives.
The grants component of the fund will support diverse art forms and professional development, while Council-led initiatives will focus on mentorship and career development in various artistic disciplines.
Council’s investment reflects its commitment to supporting artists, promoting cultural diversity, and ensuring the Cairns region continues to thrive as the cultural capital of Northern Australia.
