Cairns Regional Council agrees Holloways Beach foreshore upgrade
Cairns Regional Council has agreed a $3 million makeover of the Holloways Beach foreshore that will include new barbecues, shelters and playground equipment.
The proposal also includes improved parking, new lighting, CCTV cameras, irrigation systems, rubbish bins, seating bubblers, landscaping and a pedestrian crossing.
The project is partially funded through the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland program and is expected to be completed by June 2019.
The neighbouring Douglas Shire Council has also revealed a new draft master plan for Port Douglas' southern waterfront that includes more parking, room for marina development and a defined tourism and seafood precinct.
A period of community consultation on the Douglas Shire plan has just closed.
