Burton Snowboards looks to celebrate 10 years of The Stash at The Remarkables
Burton Snowboards are looking towards a special 10 year celebration of The Burton Stash, happening Saturday 8th September at The Remarkables.
This year’s Burton Stash Gathering will mark a decade since the unique, natural terrain based snowboard park was conceived, and its anniversary celebration will offer a customised-built course of hits, berms and features along with prizes, giveaways and a free barebque.
Members of the Burton global team will be in attendance to join in on the celebrations.
The Burton Stash history spans over 15 years and was spearheaded by Jake Burton, who spent a lot of time discussing his vision for a dream resort run with several of the team riders and a crew of internal Burton staff.
In 2008, it was identified that The Remarkables was a perfect location for a Stash Park, and was to be the only one of its kind in the southern hemisphere.
With its flowing, rolling descents and classic fall lines, the design of The Remarkables Stash was centered around the rock and stone that is plentiful in the natural terrain. The Stash’s mascot, Shreddie, was now to come in the form of the Kea Bird which is native to New Zealand and known to be destructive at times.
Today, The Remarkables Stash Park is one of only six Stash Parks globally, and remains as one of the most truly unique and enjoyable snowboard terrain parks in the world.
Since founding Burton Snowboards in 1977, Jake Burton Carpenter has dedicated his life to snowboarding, playing a pivotal role in growing snowboarding from to a world-class sport by creating groundbreaking products, supporting a team of top snowboarders and pushing resorts to allow snowboarding.
Today, Burton designs and manufactures industry-leading products for snowboarding and the snowboard lifestyle, including snowboards, boots, bindings, outerwear and layering as well as year-round apparel, packs/bags and accessories.
