Burnie City Council to deliver free skateboard workshops

Burnie City Council has partnered with Skateboarding Australia to deliver 17 free skateboarding workshops at the Burnie skatepark over the next 12 months.
The first free workshop was held on Sunday 12th August at the Burnie skatepark.
Explaining the link, Burnie Deputy Mayor Sandra French stated "this is great news for our youth. It's terrific that there are more and more affordable activities happening for our young people. It will be wonderful to see more people using our skatepark and being active."
Skateboarding Australia promotes the growth and development of skateboarding in Australia. Their role is to develop skateboarding at all levels and to increase opportunities for skateboarders.
Burnie City Council's Youth Development Officer Karli Franks added "these free workshops (are) hosted by local skate coaches who have been trained in the Skateboarding Australia Coaching Accreditation Program. They're also currently still looking for skaters who are keen to coach.
"These free workshops are designed to offer youth from all walks of life the opportunity to become actively involved in skateboarding. It's all about having fun, learning safety and etiquette within the skatepark and learning the next new trick."
