BCEC gets recognition for leadership in corporate social responsi
Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) has won the national award for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at the recent Meetings and Events Australia (MEA) Awards, further endorsing its already established credentials in that area.
The receipt of the prestigious CSR Award in consecutive MEA national Awards is a clear demonstration of BCEC's leadership in what the Centre regards as an important and core part of its everyday business standards and practices.
This latest award acknowledges the Centre's long-standing commitment to sustainable development and work practices and its contribution and achievements in the area of community engagement.
For many years BCEC has executed its own wide ranging Social Responsibility Program with great success. In recent months it has raised the bar even further and expanded this agenda by partnering with the AEG 1EARTH global sustainability program across its family of worldwide venues.
As part of this international initiative, Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre will now focus on achieving specific sustainability and community targets by 2020.
BCEC General Manager Bob O'Keeffe said the award reflects a strong commitment by a very dedicated staff, stating "we are particularly proud of this award. We believe that as individuals and as an organisation we have an obligation to make choices that will reduce our impact on the environment and contribute to building more caring communities.
"We believe this is a vital part of providing a world class facility and delivering the best possible conference and event experience. It is a fundamental pillar to success."
This latest achievement brings the total number of performance related industry awards for BCEC to 131, including both national and international awards for its CSR stewardship.
Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre is owned by South Bank Corporation and proudly managed by leading international venue management specialists AEG Ogden.
