Brisbane City Council looks for Riverstage management partnership

Brisbane City Council has today released market sounding documents “seeking industry feedback on how to best secure Riverstage as an iconic music venue and cultural icon for the people of the Brisbane for the next generation.”

With the Brisbane Riverstage having recently passed 30 years of operations, the Council is looking to offer the rights to operate the riverside venue and, potentially, is looking to secure a long-term operator with whom it can partner to upgrade the venue.

Recently advising that any upgrade to the site would be the installation of a new purpose built sound and lighting system that would use “state of the art technology”, City of Brisbane Lord Mayor, Adrian Schrinner stated “not only will this provide a better experience for concert goers, but will also ensure noise is contained to a far greater extent.

“We want to get a high-quality operator in to upgrade and run this venue to ensure it is the best venue possible going forward and is a place for future generations to experience amazing events and create long-lasting memories.”

Lord Mayor Schrinner recently old Brisbane newspaper The Courier-Mail that the anniversary milestone was the perfect time to look ahead to the venue’s future to ensure it remained “a much-loved venue for many more decades”.

He advised “I know so many people have great memories of the Riverstage.

“From dancing at a concert on a hot summer night to the annual Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols or perhaps that time it bucketed with rain while the band played.”

The venue has hosted more than 400 shows since it first opened in 1989.

The market sounding process closes on 28th February 2020.
