Brisbane Arts Theatre gains new General Manager
Ian Maurice has been announced as the new General Manager of the Brisbane Arts Theatre.
Maurice will commence his new position this month, following a long-standing career in both the media and entertainment industries. He will be bringing a wealth of experience to his new role.
For the past 14 years he has worked at 4BC, a news radio station in Brisbane, and has also worked as a television presenter.
Maurice sees his new role as a natural progression, stating "I’m so lucky to have been involved in two businesses that I love.
"I’ve always loved the media and have always held a passion for the arts. Now I feel blessed to be able to move from one love to another."
The Brisbane Arts Theatre team is confident that Maurice is the perfect candidate for the position.
The Arts Theatre President Alex Lanham added "Ian knows the media intimately and has extensive contacts in government as well as the corporate world."
The Brisbane Arts Theatre was established in 1936 and produces theatre throughout the year, as well as providing help to train emerging Brisbane artists and industry professionals.
The Theatre is a not-for-profit organisation and its work is self-funded, relying on financial support from members of the Theatre and the performing arts community at large.
Throughout the year the Theatre produces both a main house season and a selection of children’s theatre, which are complementary and run alongside each other.
Lanham believes that Maurice’s extensive experience will help the future success of the Theatre, concluding "Ian has managed businesses at various levels, from a multi-million-dollar sporting organisation to community radio, and as an actor/performer himself brings a great understanding of business and the arts."
