Brett Pickett to take on Australian Baseball Federation CEO Role
The Australian Baseball Federation has announced that Brett Pickett is to become its new Chief Executive from 1st April 2011.
The ABF considered many well-qualified applicants during the rigorous recruitment process for its new Chief Executive which has spanned the past three months, and is confident that Brett's leadership and valued baseball administration experience will help us complete the comprehensive list of exciting projects and initiatives scheduled for Australian Baseball in the coming months and years.
Pickett has 13 years experience as a sports administrator. He commenced his sports management career with the Gold Coast Cougars (of the former ABL) in 1998 after completing a Bachelor of Business (Sports Management) at Griffith University. Brett was also the Operations Manager for the International Baseball League Australia (IBLA) for a period of three years.
Pickett joined the ABF staff in 2002 as a member of the High Performance (HP) Division; and in his role as the HP Coordinator, and later the HP Manager, was a key resource in the development of programs such as the 2004 Athens Olympic Games program and Major League Baseball Australian Academy Program (MLBAAP). More recently, Brett has spent that past three years as the ABF's General Manager of Baseball Operations, a role in which he was responsible for managing the high performance, development, technical officials, and coaching portfolios.
Commenting about his appointment, Pickett stated "I am very excited about the opportunity to lead our sport and I am particularly looking forward to working with the ABF Board in implementing the vision for the sport's future success."
The ABF Board has congratulated Pickett on his appointment, and is confident that his extensive experience as an administrator within our sport, coupled with his strong management style and stakeholder management skills, will serve the sport well as he leads us into the future.
