Bold Park Aquatic reopens after $12 million redevelopment
The redevelopment of the former Bold Park Aquatic Centre has been completed with the facility now open to the public.
With a new brand, the centre is now known as Bold Park Aquatic, and new logo, the redeveloped centre now offers a 50 metre 10-lane outdoor heated pool with disabled ramp entry, a semi-enclosed 20 metre four-lane leisure pool with beach entry and interactive water features, accessible change rooms, an adventure playground, half-court basketball area, barbecues, shaded seating and a new café.
Ramp access to the main pool and level entry into the leisure pool provides easy access for swimmers of all abilities.
The $12.25 million redevelopment began last year, necessitated by the facility’s original pool having reached the end of its maintainable life.
Doric Constructions and Commercial Aquatics Australia undertook demolition of the former outdoor 50 metre 8 lane pool to allow a complete new fully tiled new 50 meter pool, with motorised pool blankets in concealed recessed pits, to be built.
The leisure/learn-to-swim pool was also part of the redevelopment, the pool being fully tiled and also featuring recessed motorised pool blankets.
The project also saw the refurbishment and upgrading of the 50 metre pools ultra fine filters to cater for the additional water volume while new ultra fine filters and associated plant have been installed for the leisure/learn-to-swim pool.
Heating to the pools is being provided by solar evacuated tubes and the existing heat pumps.
The entrance to Bold Park Aquatic presents a huge frame offering a nostalgic take on the screen of the old Skyline Drive-In that formerly operated next door to the facility. This was designed by Kim Donovan of Donovan Payne architects.
Welcoming the reopening, Town of Cambridge Mayor Keri Shannon explained “Bold Park Aquatic has been a favourite swimming hole for Cambridge residents for many years and having seen first-hand the new centre I have no doubt it will remain as one of the Town’s most popular facilities for many years to come.
“The new Bold Park Aquatic is an outstanding facility which I’m sure the community will love and the Town is rightfully very proud of.”
The fresh colours and contemporary design of Bold Park Aquatic’s new branding and logo can now be seen on staff uniforms, as well as all of its promotional material, brochures and signage.
Set in tranquil bushland in the heart of the Perth suburb of City Beach, Bold Park Aquatic's heated pools are the ideal place for swimming, leisure and fitness, offering a range of programs for all ages and abilities.
