Belgravia Leisure supports Sport Australia’s ‘Find Your 30’ campaign

Belgravia Leisure has announced its supporting of Sport Australia’s ‘Find Your 30’ campaign, launching a new promotion offering 30 days of facility membership for $30, giving new members access to a range of gym, swim, or play services, indoors or outdoors, in their own community.

Advising that Belgravia Leisure centres make it easy to find 30 minutes of physical activity, with a range of options under one roof - from gyms and group fitness spaces to swimming pools, water slides and sports arenas - Belgravia Leisure Group Marketing Manager, Sharon Masson advises “the 30 days for $30 offer gives new members an opportunity over the festive period to find activities that suit them and make them a permanent part of a healthier lifestyle.

“Take just one centre, the Whitlam Leisure Centre in Liverpool, NSW. There you can find your 30 minutes by swimming laps, doing aqua aerobics, training in the gym, doing classes such as BodyPump, playing basketball and netball, and more, all in the same location.”

Fiona Boughton, Deputy General Manager for Marketing at Sport Australia, said the ‘Find Your 30’ campaign aims to increase physical activity levels across Australia.

Boughton noted “we want to raise awareness about the importance of sport and physical activity because we want all Australians to benefit from the health and enjoyment it can bring to their lives.

“Find Your 30 aligns with Australia’s Physical Activity and Sedentary Behaviour Guidelines that recommend adults need a minimum of 30 minutes of physical activity per day, and children 60 minutes. Australia is also committed to the World Health Organization target to reduce inactivity by 15% by 2030.”

Targeted at parents with children
The ‘Find Your 30’ campaign is for all Australians, although it is focused on parents with children aged up to 18 years.

Boughton adds “half of Australia’s adults and eight in 10 children are not getting a sufficient amount of physical activity each day. Active parents can drive their own energy levels higher but also positively influence their children. Our lives are becoming increasingly sedentary and so this is about getting moving as a nation and making a generational change.”

Everyone benefits
‘Find Your 30’ also helps parents and children find ways to do sport and physical activity together.

Boughton cites examples of this as including indoor or outdoor recreational swimming at Belgravia Leisure aquatic facilities, going to the waterslides and splash zones at WaterMarc and Aquarena in Melbourne or Sugarworld in Cairns.

Boughton went on to say “activity can be more than dedicated exercise, it can also be about enjoying physical activity in social settings with friends and family. The benefits are enormous.”

Pointing out that the 30 minutes of daily activity doesn’t have to be done all at once, Boughton concluded “make this attainable for you. It doesn’t have to be a solid block of physical activity – it can be 5 minutes here or 10 minutes there and building to 30 minutes. It can be something as simple as taking the stairs instead of the escalator and looking at ways to introduce things like walking meetings in the workplace.

“There’s also great benefit in joining a gym, community centre, sports team or club in terms of social connections, general mental health and wellbeing. Making physical activity a priority every day is key.”

Staff at Belgravia Leisure managed centres can advise of the various activities on offer, while the Find Your 30 page on the www.sportaus.gov.au website has lots of tips on how to get more active.

The 30 days for $30 offer commences as of 26th December 2019.
