Banyule Council reveals WaterMarc's dynamic energy
Banyule City Council has unveiled detailed designs and the branding for its $50 million Greensborough regional aquatic and recreation centre.
To be named WaterMarc the new facility will feature:
• An Olympic-sized swimming pool;
• A learn-to-swim pool and toddler pool;
• The 'Tantrum Alley' waterslide;
• A warm-water therapy pool, spa, sauna and steam room;
• Fitness and gym facilities, including space for spin, aerobics, yoga and martial arts classes.
The centre will also include a cafe and meeting facilities.
Mayor Peter McKenna said the project was "on schedule" to open in mid 2012, and would be accompanied by the construction of the Greensborough Walk.
Mayor McKenna added that the WaterMarc brand aims to reflect the diverse range of facilities as well as the fact it would be a landmark for Melbourne's north-eastern suburbs.
Explaining the branding, Mayor McKenna explained "over recent months we have been working hard to shape our brand so that it is reflective of what the new regional aquatic and leisure centre at Greensborough will be to the community.
"The result is a vibrant, fun and recognisable brand."
Within the brand, 'Water' refers to the aquatic element of this iconic development, while 'Marc' stands for multi-activity regional centre which describes the broad range of features available.
Mayor McKenna concluded "we truly believe that WaterMarc will indeed make its mark in our community and the broader region, offering an exciting range of activities and spaces for fitness and fun across all age groups."
The logo has been created to fit with the dynamic energy of the centre and reflects the larger than life 'Tantrum Alley Slide' plus the variety of activities that will bring WaterMarc to life.
