Ballarat to host Australian Regional Tourism Convention in 2022
The City of Ballarat has confirmed it will host the Australian Regional Tourism Convention from 10th to 12th October 2022 at the Mercure Ballarat. The convention aims to showcase the best of regional tourism across the country, while highlighting the visitor economy of Ballarat.
The theme for the convention is ‘Regional Australia - Paving the way for a stronger Visitor Economy’ and it is a must attend for local governments, tourism organisations, tourism professionals, local businesses and government personnel.
Australian Regional Tourism are expecting up to 200 delegates to attend the three day program and will be able to stay on-site at the Mercure and surrounding accommodation providers.
Attendees can expect to hear from a wide range of tourism professionals and businesses from across Australia.
The City of Ballarat is proud to offer conference attendees an impressive Ballarat and local surrounds experience with attendees offered one of four curated experiences on 10th October:
The Producer: taste your way around some of the amazing producers in the Ballarat and Pyrenees regions.
Major Attractions: visit some of Ballarat’s favourite destinations, Sovereign Hill, and the Ballarat Wildlife Park.
Indulgence: Indulge in wellness, food and accommodation throughout the CBD and the surrounding region of Daylesford and Hepburn Springs.
Art & Craft: an exclusive walking tour that takes in the evolution of the City of Ballarat’s award-winning Creative City Strategy.
The convention will kick off with a reception dinner at Sovereign Hill, followed by two days of exciting speakers and workshops before concluding with a gala dinner.
City of Ballarat Mayor, Daniel Moloney said the ability to showcase Ballarat as a tourist and conference destination is so valuable to the city, commenting “I’d like to encourage local industry operators to come along and make the most of the opportunity to network with national tourism delegates.
“It is such a great opportunity to highlight the valuable work being delivered in the tourism sector and the growing number of local entrepreneurial operators in the region.”
