Australian seating scores goal at FIFA World Cup Stadium

Australian manufacturer Sebel Furniture has supplied the premium seating for the Greenpoint Stadium in Cape Town, South Africa - where eight FIFA World Cup matches are currently being played.

Football fans who have travelled to the brand new Greenpoint Stadium have been able to savour the sporting glory of the world cup fever in complete comfort, with unobstructed views and world-class seating.

Sebel was awarded the contract for supply of Greenpoint's seating based on the company's experience with large scale stadium projects around the world, including seating for the new Lansdowne Road stadium in Dublin, Cardiff Football Stadium in Wales and ANZ Stadium in Sydney.

Sebel worked in association with GMP Architects of Germany to supply 4,800 of its fixed stadium seats to meet with the arenaâs strict design objectives.

The award winning Sebel Podium seat was chosen ahead of an international field of competitors.

Sebel invested more than $2 million over a three year period in the design and delivery of the Podium seating, was recognised by industry design experts as the most versatile stadium seating system at the time of its development.

The Podium is the world's first true beam mounted stadium seat, and is made from 100% recyclable polypropylene. It is fully UV treated to ensure maximum durability and weather resistance.

Sebel Chief Executive Greg Welsh, said that winning the seating contract at Greenpoint Stadium was a recognition of Sebel's innovative designs, high product standards and superior expertise.

The purpose built $600 million Greenpoint Stadium complex was designed to be an all-weather sports and entertainment venue.

According to the contractors of the stadium, South Africa's Sail Group, the stadium will remain as a sustainable multi-purpose venue after hosting the FIFA World Cup.

A world class stadium, Greenpoint Stadium will become the home training facility for the countryâs top athletes and cater for all types of sports, including a rugby festival, music concerts and other major events.
