Australian Institute of Sport announces sponsorship with Grill’d to advance nutrition education

The Australian Institute of Sport has today announced a four-year sponsorship with Australian burger brand Grill’d which will see the burger company take its nutrition education a step further and support people to make more informed decisions about their food choices.

To help spread the message about the importance of nutrition to health and performance, Grill’d has named its newest ambassador, Olympic gold medallist Jakara Anthony (pictured above).

Last month in Beijing, Anthony became just the sixth Australian – and the first in 12 years – to win gold at a Winter Olympic Games. And the 23 year old has continued to prove she is the most dominant female mogul skier in the world, claiming moguls gold at a World Cup event in Italy, and finishing the 2022 season as the overall World Cup champion.

Anthony notes “as a long-time Grill’d fan, I am very proud to be working with Grill’d as they announce their sponsorship of the AIS. Being an Australian athlete, I have benefited from AIS support over my journey from a young aspiring athlete to an Olympic Gold medallist. It’s really exciting to see Australian businesses recognising the important role the AIS plays and partnering with them to help support both current and future Australian athletes to achieve their dreams.”

Ben Goss, Grill’d Chief Marketing Officer adds ‘we are incredibly proud to announce this sponsorship. The AIS is a key source of expertise and guidance for high performing athletes especially around sports nutrition principles.

“We have provided Grill’d menu items to over 28 AFL and NRL clubs post their training and games so we know athletes, nutritionists, dieticians and coaching staff recognise the nutritional benefits of our much loved product. In addition, many elite athletes, such as Jakara and our key partners at the Melbourne Storm and Melbourne Boomers, eat Grill’d on a regular basis, so from a nutritional stand-point this is a perfect match. We want to educate our consumers on informed food choices and encourage them to lead an active, healthy lifestyle.”

AIS Director Matti Clements advises “The AIS has been delivering world class nutritional advice to Australia’s high performance athletes and sports for more than four decades. Nutrition can help athletes to train hard, stay healthy and injury-free, and compete at their best.

“But you don’t need to be an elite athlete to experience how nutrition helps you reach your goals. The AIS is pleased to work with Grill’d to enable people to make informed nutritional decisions.

“Jakara Anthony is a wonderful ambassador to help spread the message about the importance of nutrition to health and performance. The AIS is proud to have supported Jakara on her journey to Olympic gold and we look forward to continuing that support as we start the countdown to Milano Cortina 2026 Games.

“The AIS also welcomes the corporate support organisations like Grill’d provide to our inspirational athletes like Jakara.”
