ATEC releases program highlights for Meeting Place 2024

The Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC) has announced the launch of this year’s Meeting Place (MP24) program, detailing all the action that will be part of the event taking place on the Gold Coast from 28th-30th October.

This year's event is anticipated to attract around 600 industry leaders, decision-makers, business development managers, and international travel buyers for three days of networking, business meetings, and industry insights.

Supported by  Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) and Experience Gold Coast (EGC), Meeting Place is a premier platform for Australia's tourism exporters to connect with global travel buyers with the event facilitating thousands of business meetings.

ATEC Managing Director Peter Shelley advised “ATEC Meeting Place plays a crucial role in the tourism export supply chain bringing together Australian based tourism products with the buyers who help them connect to international visitor markets globally.”

Highlights of this year’s Meeting Place program include:

Keynote address – Curtis McGrath
Four-time Paralympic Gold Medallist Curtis McGrath will share his personal story, from the dust and dangers of Afghanistan to achieving sporting glory. Curtis will inspire with a powerful message about overcoming life’s challenges and using them as a springboard to success.

The Future of Global Travel – Simon Kuestenmacher 
Co-founder of The Demographics Group, Simon Kuestenmacher, will explore the future of global travel, offering a data-driven look at the trends shaping the industry in a rapidly changing world.

Tourism Sustainability Pledge - Sara Dolincar
Sara Dolnicar is a renowned tourism researcher specialising in market segmentation, sustainable tourism, and improving survey methods. Her work has significantly influenced how tourism organizations understand and target diverse traveller groups, with a strong focus on sustainability and data-driven decision-making in the tourism sector.

GenAI - Christian Watts
Explore the transformative impact of Generative AI in tourism as Christian Watts leads a session focused on how AI is reshaping the industry using real-world case studies to highlight these groundbreaking innovations.
