Asian FLOW tour comes to Dreamworld

Gold Coast theme park Dreamworld is to host Australia's first international flowriding competition.

Dreamworld was selected as the Australian venue for the 2011 Asian FLOW Series, proudly supported by Streets, with a competition event to be held at the park's FlowRider facility on Friday 16th September.

With flowboarding emerging as an international sport, the inaugural Asian FLOW Tour is being held from 3rd to 24th September - culminating in finals at The Wave House Sentosa, Singapore on 1st October. Other venues in the Asian FLOW Tour are Sunway Lagoon in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and the Pacific Island Club in Saipan.

Finalists will then go on to represent Asia in the annual world championships, FLOW (Flow League of the World) competitions, on 5th to 9th October, to be held at the Wave House in Durban, South Africa.

In 2006, Dreamworld installed Australia's first Wave Loch Double FlowRider and fast became a favoured location for emerging flowboarders, keen to improve their skills and compete with fellow local enthusiasts in one of the world's newest board sports.

Dreamworld will also be hosting a junior competition to accommodate and encourage the growing participation in the sport by local Gold Coast youth, although winners in the junior category will not qualify for the finals in Singapore.

The Asian FLOW Series 2011 will provide competitors with the opportunity to experience high level competition against riders from the regional FlowRiding community. Reaching out beyond the local enthusiasts, the Asian FLOW Series 2011 will appeal to all who can appreciate an active outdoor lifestyle.
