Aquatics Horowhenua Streamline Swim School reports increased enrolments  

The Aquatics Horowhenua Streamline Swim School, Levin New Zealand, has reported a record number of students enrolling for Term 1 in 2020.

600 students are eager to learn to swim through Streamline classes at the Levin Aquatic Centre and Foxton Heated Pools this term, with 522 of those enrolled at the Levin Aquatic Centre. The previous record was 551 combined enrolments for Levin and Foxton classes.

Aquatics Programmes and Events Supervisor, Lewis Young advises that the record enrolment reflects an ongoing trend, with student numbers increasing every year.

Young notes “Term 1 this year was our biggest jump in numbers, and the record for enrolments before that was Term 1 last year. It’s connected with the growth in our community as more people move to the district.

“Also, children who participated in our Rural Schools Swim Programme are now enrolling in the Swim School, which is great to see.”

Streamline Swim School offers a variety of classes to cater for all abilities and ages, from six-month-old babies to adults, and from beginners to advanced swimmers.

Young added that Aquatics Horowhenua has put a lot of effort into developing and improving the curriculum, with an increased number of levels to cater for a wider variety of students. There are two extra classes for babies to cater for the different stages of infant development, and an extra level for advanced pre-schoolers who are not yet ready for the school age group.

However Young highlighted that the challenge for the Aquatics crew now is to find more teachers commenting “we currently have seven permanent staff, and several casual staff, who teach classes. But we need more. We’re looking for teachers who are passionate and enthusiastic about helping people learn to swim, and who’ll bring energy to our team.”
