Aquatics and Recreation Victoria prepares for Water Safety Week 2011

Water Safety Week, a key part of the longstanding Victorian state wide 'Play it Safe by the Water' campaign, is gearing up again as the summer season approaches.

To be held from Saturday 26th November to Sunday 4th December, the week will see a wide range of organisations and agencies across Victoria provide people of all ages and abilities with the opportunity to participate in a range of water safety activities in a variety of environments.

These activities aim to increase people's awareness of water safety issues, develop their water safety skills and encourage them to always 'Play it Safe by the Water'.
Industry professionals can spread this important message by registering their organisation's interest in participating in Water Safety Week 2011.

This year, in addition to traditional water safety week activities, facilities have the option of photographing or recording their best Water Safety Activity or Display to win some fabulous prizes.

There is also the exclusive opportunity for schools and facilities to design a free-standing water safety banner/display.

Banners from the top two facilities will be featured prominently on stage at Federation Square while the top three schools will win some fantastic prizes and also be featured prominently on stage at Federation Square during the Water Safety Week video competition winner's announcement on 5th December 2011.

Aquatics and Recreation Victoria (ARV) is requesting facilities to take advantage of these opportunities to promote the water safety message and be in the running for some unique prizes.
