Applications open for Victoria’s Together More Active program

The Victorian Government has opened applications for the Together More Active program to eligible state sporting associations, state sport and recreation bodies, regional academies of sport and regional sports assemblies.

The program supports initiatives that build organisational capability and sustainability to ensure that sports can continue to make a positive difference in their community.

These grants also support projects that create greater participation and safer, more welcoming and inclusive environments for all Victorians, including Indigenous communities, women and girls and the LGBTIQ+ community.

The previous round of the Together More Active program awarded almost $9 million to more than 100 organisations to support a range of initiatives that enhance sector capability and increase inclusive participation.

Previously funded initiatives through Together More Active include the development of an all-abilities strategy by Bowls Victoria to encourage more participation by people with disability, while Lacrosse Victoria developed Lacrosse Sixers as an innovative, social version of the sport.

The Together More Active program is part of the State Government’s Active Victoria strategy that aims to ensure even more people can enjoy the benefits that sport and active recreation deliver.

Victorian Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence notes “three out of five Victorian adults regularly take part in sport or active recreation, and they reap a significant reward both physically and mentally.

“We’re backing the organisations that make this activity possible by opening doors to more careers, partnerships and participation.”

Bowls Victoria Chief Executive Tony Sherwill shares “The Together More Active program has greatly helped Bowls Victoria to foster growth in participation by persons with a disability, create new inclusive events and expand classification opportunities.

“We’ve seen an increase in entries and divisions - including vision impaired – to state parasport championships and increased interest in the state parasport team.”

Applications close on Wednesday, 31st May. For more information and to apply, visit sport.vic.gov.au/
