Anytime Fitness Australia founder to raise $100,000 for The Hunger Project
Anytime Fitness Australia co-founder Jacinta McDonell-Jimenez is to undertake fundraising work for non-profit organisation The Hunger Project.
With Anytime Fitness’s company ethos being based on changing lives, McDonell-Jimenez’s work for The Hunger Project takes this commitment one step further.
The Hunger Project empowers people to end their own hunger by tipping the aid model on its head. They break the cycle of hunger and poverty by unlocking the vision, commitment and leadership of the hungry by training them in the skills and confidence to feed themselves and their families.
A statement from Anytime Fitness explains “Anytime Fitness and The Hunger Project believe in the same thing – that each and every person has the ability to transform their life and that all people are resilient and inspiring. All we need is to unleash our potential.”
McDonell-Jimenez states “I believe that every person should have access to enough food to eat each day and the opportunity to education. I believe that nobody actually wants charity”.
She has personally committed to raising $100,000 for The Hunger Project, which will provide 200 communities with the ability to purchase food-processing equipment, provide 2,000 people with microfinance loans that are often used by communities to buy seeds/fertiliser, and train up to 50,000 rural villagers on agricultural practices.
McDonell-Jimenez will also travel to Malawi in August to see first-hand what her funds achieve while also acknowledging the role of Anytime Fitness brand ambassador Shannan Ponton in committing his time and his energy to help her raise funds for this organisation. Along with donations from the public, friends and family, Ponton will be hosting numerous events throughout June and July all of which will help raise money for this great cause.
