Alpine Resorts Victoria appoints Amber Gardner as inaugural Chief Executive

The incoming board of Alpine Resorts Victoria has announced that Amber Gardner has been appointed as the organisation’s inaugural Chief Executive following an extensive executive search.

Gardner is currently the Chief Executive of the Mount Hotham Alpine Resort Management Board and has spent the last 16 years of her career in leadership roles within Victoria’s alpine and tourism sector. Prior to her current role at Mount Hotham, Gardner was Chief Executive of Tourism North East and she was previously the Director of Marketing, Sales and Business Development at the Mount Buller and Mount Stirling Alpine Resort Management Board.

Gardner is currently Chair of the Ovens Murray Regional Partnership and a member of the Regional Development Advisory Committee and Victoria’s Economic Restart & Recovery Committee. She is a Director of Outdoors Victoria and of Tourism North East.

As the inaugural Chief Executive, Gardner will be instrumental in realising the benefits of this reform, bringing a strategic and coordinated approach to planning for the future and responding to the impacts of climate change, supporting the growth and diversification of Victoria’s alpine tourism sector.

Alpine Resorts Victoria Chairperson, Ali Wastie noted “Amber’s deep experience in the alpine and tourism sectors, her extensive networks and her proven people leadership make her an ideal choice as our inaugural Chief Executive Officer.

“Amber has an excellent grasp of the strategic opportunities and challenges facing Alpine Resorts Victoria and she has a strong and compelling vision for the organisation and its future.

“The Board is looking forward to working with Amber in her new role.”

Gardner adds “Victoria’s Alpine Resorts are unique nature-based tourism destinations and significant contributors to the State’s visitor economy. I have a long affiliation with these iconic attractions, so am delighted to take on the role as Chief Executive Officer of Alpine Resorts Victoria.”

“I look forward to working with the alpine industry to build the economic resilience of the sector and lead the resorts through their next phase of strategic growth.”

Gardner (pictured) will commence in the role on 1st October 2022.
