All Blacks test announced for Dunedin’s Forsyth Barr Stadium

Dunedin Venues Management has announced that following the sell out All Blacks test this year, Dunedin's Forsyth Barr Stadium will once again play host to the 2025 season opener on 5th July.

The game will see France and New Zealand go head-to-head - the first time the teams have faced off in Ōtepoti since 2018.

This year’s test match, which saw a packed stadium of 29,000 spectators, had a positive impact on the local community, according to a Dunedin Venues Management Ltd (DVML) survey.

The comprehensive survey highlighted the significant economic benefits and high levels of satisfaction associated with the match. An impressive 69% of attendees travelled from outside the region, with 96% of these visitors stating they would not have otherwise come to Dunedin.

These visitors stayed an average of 1.8 nights and spent approximately $770 per person, resulting in a total direct additional expenditure of $13.7 million.

Dunedin Mayor Jules Radich says it’s exciting to have another test match lined up for Dunedin, especially as it’s the only All Blacks test in the South Island next year.

Mayor Radich adds “Fans of world-class rugby should register for tickets and get in early, so they don’t miss out. This will likely be another sold-out event.

“There are some amazing events taking place in the city next year, from cultural festivals and street markets to international sporting events and fashion week, it’s gearing up to be an eventful 2025.”
