Albury to be boosted by enhanced cultural precinct

Albury's Regional Art Gallery is set to become the cornerstone of the city's cultural precinct, with its redevelopment receiving $3.5 million from RoundTwo of the Regional Development Australia Fund (RDAF).

The Albury City Council's $10.5 million project to redevelop the art gallery is expected to boost cultural tourism by an estimated $3.8 million a year and around 80,000 visitors annually.

The enhanced Albury Regional Art Gallery will have more exhibition space, and a cafe and retail area.

The project involves redeveloping the existing gallery and the adjacent Burrow's House, bringing improved access, storage and loading facilities as well as the increased space and retail area.

It will create 10 jobs during construction and seven ongoing jobs and will have a significant positive impact on other businesses in the vicinity.
