Agreement to see Super Netball players receive at least 90% of their full salaries

Suncorp Super Netball has announced a new agreement with the Australian Netball Players’ Association (ANPA) that will see players receive at least 90% of their full salary from 1st August until the end of the 2020 contract period on 30th November 2020.

In a new agreement struck between the league, teams and ANPA, players will receive JobKeeper allowance or 90% of their salary if greater than $37,690 and are also set to receive an additional two months of health insurance allowance for October and November.

The agreement follows a scheduled review of the original agreement which was completed after Round 7 of Suncorp Super Netball.

Pleased with the deal, Suncorp Super Netball Chief Executive, Chris Symington stated “our players have gone above and beyond this year to deliver what has been an extraordinary season, so the league and teams are pleased to be able to agree on this final payment outcome with the playing group

“We appreciate all the sacrifices that our players have made in order the make this season happen and the maturity at which they have approached these discussions.

“It’s a credit to the success of the season that we were able to make this final update to the agreement.”

Pleased both parties could reach a deal to provide financial certainty for the players to the end of their contracts, ANPA Chief Executive, Kathryn Harby-Williams added “we have come a long way since negotiations commenced in March and feel fortunate to see an uplift in pay which has been made possible due to the extension of JobKeeper.

“As always, discussions with the league have been respectful and made possible due the support of the clubs.

“The playing group, like all of us, have endured some of the most challenging conditions yet feel grateful they have been able to deliver a product to provide netball fans with some joy over the journey.”

Information regarding the 2021 signing period is expected to be announced by the league imminently.
