Agents needed for 'Making Fitness Fun' school equipment

US based fitness teaching aid 'Skillastics' is making strong inroads into Victorian schools and After School Care programs.
With an emphasis on 'Making Fitness Fun' Skillastics is a game that focuses on exercise and skill set development. Played using giant mats with extra large dice and colour coded bean bags used as moving pieces it has all the components to motivate childrenâs interest.
Australia and New Zealand distributor Ron Bongetti says that having displayed it at the past two Victorian ACHPER Conferences, and having provided demonstrations to Australian Sports Commission âActive After-school Communitiesâ program managers, there has been a very strong uptake in introducing the games into childrenâs programs.
âWe have had a strong response?, said Bongetti, adding "we now have over 50 sites throughout Melbourne and country Victoria where our various Games are being used.
âSkillastics has a number of games ranging from our Fitness and Extreme Fitness games through to skill set based games for basketball, soccer, volleyball, snow sports and a soon to be released game being produced in conjunction with US Tennis.
âThe programâs creator, Sandy âSpinâ Slade, was a college basketballer and has engaged US National Sports Organisations in developing these Sports Development Games, hence the use of âsoccerâ rather than our preferred football.
âIn the not-to-distant future we will be looking to 'Australianise' the Games by producing games aimed at Aussie Rules, Netball and perhaps cricket and the other football codes,? he added. âThey are a great, fun way for sports to introduce basic skills.
âWe are very interested in speaking to the sports about becoming part of their Development Pathway.?
Skillastics Australia also has a game aimed at pre-school and bottom aged students called Half Pint Skillastics. Trialed at a Victorian Special School these games proved a great hit in teaching children and adults with special needs.
âThe Special School we trialed it at was very pleased with the way the participants took to the game,? said Bongetti. âThey said the use of a dice for shapes and another for colours helped in their teaching of colours and shapes; something they have had difficulty with in the past.?
Skillastics Australia is looking for agents in other cities throughout Australia and New Zealand.
