AFL fans dies at MCG: two others critical in separate incidents
An elderly AFL fan has died and two others remain in a critical condition after separate medical incidents at the MCG on Saturday night.
As reported by Fox Sports, a man in his 80s and a man in his 70s suffered heart attacks during the Essendon-Geelong game, while a woman in her 20s suffered from an unspecified medical condition.
The man in his 80s died at the scene.
Ambulance Victoria spokesman John Mullen said the woman and the man in his 70s were rushed to The Alfred hospital where they remain in a critical condition.
Mullen said the separate incidents occurred within half an hour of each other in separate areas of the ground, telling Fox Sports "to have three unrelated and serious medical emergencies from the one location is quite uncommon."
Witnesses said crowd security blocked off areas of the ground, leaving some fans unable to return to their seat for up to half an hour as medical crews performed CPR.
