Administration arrangements for LeisureCo

Michael Basedow, Partner at Pitcher Partners and Administrator of the LeisureCo group of companies, has announced measures in relation to the Administration of LeisureCo operated facilities.

An organised wind-down and transition has been planned and implemented to safeguard the employment of staff in existing facilities and to minimise the disruption to facility users.

In this regard agreement has been reached with the Canada Bay and Hurstville Councils to transition management of the Five Dock Leisure Centre and Hurstville Aquatic and Leisure Centres respectively back to those councils or alternative operators. Basedow advises that these transitions have been completed with minimal disruptions.

Contracts for the Mt Gambier and Numurkah/Moira facilities have been terminated. Basedow is confident that councils will work with management and staff to ensure that these venues are smoothly transitioned. Mount Gambier facilities are currently closed and do not reopen until October 2009, providing the Council with significant time to enter into new management arrangements.

Exits from contractual arrangements with Whyalla and Wyong Councils are currently being negotiated.

In Shape for Life Health Club - East Gardens was closed immediately upon Basedow's appointment last week while In Shape for Life Health Club - Alexandria remains open to members.

Both gyms are being advertised for sale.
