Accidentally demolished Sydney gym returns in new location
A Sydney gym whose premises were destroyed when the demolition of a neighbouring property went wrong has reopened in a new location.
Formerly located in the Sydney suburb of Balgowlah, The Booty Parlour boutique strength studio for women has now reopened in the suburb of Newport - 20 kilometres north of its former site.
In September last year an excavator the demolishing a neighbouring property struck the wall of the building next door housing The Booty Parlour.
The building, which also accommodated a therapeutic massage clinic, was so badly damaged and in danger of collapse that engineers ordered that the building be torn down.
Having feared that she had lost her livelihood, nine months later Jess Zukowski is delighted to have her gym operating again.
She told local newspaper The Manly Daily “the booty is back.”
Commenting on her experience, she advised “we suffered quite a blow last year.
“It’s been a wild ride since the first studio was knocked down, made a little more complicated with COVID-19 also holding us back.”
Having initially planned to re-open the business on 1st April the new locations reopening was delayed by the Coronavirus lockdown.
Having now reopened, Zukowski noted that "we’ve had a lot of our regular clients make the journey to Newport to train with us in our studio.
“We are all pretty glad that people can get back into real gym environments instead of having to work out using online sources.
“And social distancing will be a priority here, but boutique gyms have always head plenty of space for clients to work out in.”
Zukowski has been coaching strength training for women full time since 2015 and is also a well known competitor in the sport of women’s powerlifting.
She said her mission is to help women feel their strongest while developing positive habits and mindsets for life.
