Accessible beach days return this summer at Glenelg Beach
City of Holdfast Bay has advised that Glenelg Beach will be the site of six accessible beach days this summer, starting this December and running into March next year.
Holdfast Council is working with ParaQuad SA (PQSA) to host the beach days and will provide 50-metres of beach matting from the foreshore to the water, to provide access for wheelchair users and people with mobility difficulties.
There will also be beach wheelchairs available to use on the days and the Mobi-chair floating wheelchair. PQSA volunteers will be on hand throughout the day to provide support.
The six accessible beach days will be held between 10am - 2pm on the following dates:
Saturday 16th December 2023
Sunday 7th January 2024
Saturday 20th January 2024
Saturday 3rd February 2024
Sunday 18th February 2024
Sunday 10th March 2024
The access point can be found north of the Glenelg Jetty, providing entry to Glenelg Beach, which will be made fully wheelchair accessible.
As with the previous accessible beach days held over the past two summers, the beach-mat is accessible to everyone, including members of the public and people attending the events.
The beach wheelchairs and Mobi-chair floating wheelchair are free to use and bookings are recommended.
