500 trees to transform Mildura City Centre
Mildura CBD’s Urban Regener8 project will see the planting of nearly 500 trees transforming and revitalising the regional city’s streetscape with more shade, accessibility and spaces for outdoor dining.
The project has been made possible by a $300,000 investment from the State Government’s Regional Infrastructure Fund.
The project will also build new footpaths and walkways connecting the CBD’s tree-lined streets to the riverfront, linking local landmarks and enriching the beauty of the iconic town. More than 50 trees have already been planted.
The streetscapes will feature new outdoor dining areas at local hospitality venues – boosting capacity, local spending and investment opportunities. These tree-lined areas will also provide additional shade for locals and visitors to be able to enjoy the outdoors during the summer.
The streetscape revitalisation is part of Mildura Rural City Council’s broader CBD plan to create a greener town and see the city become a regional oasis on the Murray River.
The second stage of the Mildura Riverfront Powerhouse Precinct project has been made possible by a $5.5 million investment from the State Government Building Works package and the Regional Infrastructure Fund.
