2024 Darwin Pride Festival looks to celebrate the ‘difference that connects us’

A colourful programme of music, theatre, dance, and cabaret will be delivered for the 2024 Darwin Pride Festival, celebrating the Top End’s LGBTQIA+ community this weekend with a theme ‘celebrating the difference that connects us’.

The 2024 Darwin Pride Festival is run by Top End Pride and supported by the Northern Territory Government through Northern Territory Major Events Company.

This year the four-day celebration will take place from Thursday 20th June to Sunday 23rd June. On Saturday, the Waterfront from the Convention Centre to Fort Hill Parklands will be transformed into the Pride Precinct with the popular Family Day, colourful Pride Parade and the Darwin Pride Music Festival.

The music festival will be headlined by multi-platinum selling and ARIA nominated Ricki-Lee. The Australian pop diva will be making her Darwin debut and joins a diverse line-up including international party DJ YO! MAFIA and singer/songwriter Bec Sandridge, Jojo Zaho and Victoria Anthon.

Those looking to join in the celebration can take part in a huge variety of activities and events across Darwin such as the inaugural Darwin Pride LGBTQIA+ Film Festival, an original play, King Paddy, written exclusively for Darwin Pride Festival and a Queer Cabaret and Pride Comedy night.

NTMEC Chief Executive Suzana Bishop shared “the Darwin Pride Festival is such an important celebration in our community.

“This year’s theme ‘Celebrating the differences that connect us’ is a great reflection and celebration of our vibrant and inclusive community.

“Darwin Pride is one of the most diverse and integrated LGBTQIA+ celebrations in all of regional Australia and to see that they have attracted such a great variety of programming, including Australian pop diva Ricki-Lee, is a testament to the hard work of organisers.”

Top End Pride (NT) Incorporated Chair Sean Taylor added “I highly encourage all members of our Darwin community to come and celebrate the differences that connect us and join in with the exciting programme we have put together, and many thanks to our amazing sponsors.”
