2022 WA Day to feature Western Australia’s biggest drone light show

The 2022 WA Day celebrations will feature the state’s biggest drone light show as part of a range of free community events and activities across the State to celebrate Western Australia’s people, lifestyle and cultures.

Western Australia Government is supporting the event with funding of $1.9 million - which includes a $900,000 Lotterywest grant.

The drone show will light the night sky and audience imaginations with 500 drones telling WA stories, set to a WA themed musical score playing on screens and speakers, and in a first for the region, the light show will travel to Port Hedland for a community event on Saturday, 11th June.

The Burswood Parklands event will feature family friendly entertainment and attractions including a silent disco, roaming entertainers, the Lotterywest Community Stage filled with talent, 16 carnival rides and games, and more than 20 incredible family fun activations.

Western Australians will have the opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the State’s Whadjuk Noongar history through Whadjuk Dreaming, an anthology of four animated short films in a bespoke dome.

The celebrations will also include events across WA in Albany, Carnarvon, Fremantle, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, Newman and Port Hedland.
